An electric unicycle might not be the first thing you think of when you think of alternative forms of transportation. You mind will likely go to electric scooters, or even electric skateboards. But there is something charmingly simple about being able to ride a motorized unicycle that we had to explore it. In this post we’ve gathered 5 of the very best electric unicycles that you can buy today so you can easily and simply choose the ideal unicycle for you.

Inmotion V8 (AKA Solowheel Glide 3)
One of the best know electric unicycles is the Inmotion V8. There may be a bit of confusion surround the Inmotion V8 as it is also branded as the Solowheel Glide 3. But be aware that they are both virtually the same product and are manufactured by the same people. For whatever reason the companies are branding and selling them separately.
The Inmotion V8 is one of the best, if not the best electric unicycles you can buy today.
It has a 16 inch wheel that comes with an all terrain tire. It houses an 800 W motor that is able to get the self-balancing cycle up to a top speed of 19 mph. If you’re looking for something a bit more than that, the Inmotion V10F can reach a top speed of 25 mph and comes with many of the same great features that the V8 does. But that model will cost you almost twice the price of the V8. The V8 also features a 460Wh battery pack that is able to reach a staggering total of 31 miles.
With the stats out of the way we can get onto some of the nice design features that we think really makes this unicycle worth the money.
The overall design is very good, it’s quite thin and looks nice with it’s sleek and quite stylish design. The quite eccentric side lighting may or may not be to your taste, but Inmotion have a brilliant accompanying mobile app that allows you to adjust them to your taste with some nifty built in patterns and colors or simply switch them off altogether.
The V8 also comes with some nice quality of life features that make this really stand out. The pedals are solid and coated in a grip tape similar to what you would get on a skateboard. This makes it very easy to stay firmly in place whilst riding which will help with control and confidence. The integrated handle works very well and extends to a good height. It also includes a built in headlight and tail lights to help with getting around at night.
The Inmotion V8 does everything very well. It isn’t quite the fastest, best at off road riding or have the highest range, but the combination of everything it offers gives the rider what we consider to be the overall best balance of quality. The build quality is also very good and the design and additional features are tasteful and genuinely useful. It’s also priced very reasonably. So, for all these reasons we’re happy to say that this is the best all round electric unicycle that you can buy today.

Solowheel Glide 2
The Solowheel Glide 2 is the smaller sibling of the Solowheel Glide 3 (Inmotion V8). We think that the Solowheel Glide 2 is probably the best electric unicycle for beginners.
The Glide 2 comes with a top speed of 15 mph and a range of 25 miles. These are both obviously a little lower than the Glide 3 but are more than enough to get you going if you’re new to the hobby. The max weight of rider is rated at 260 lbs for the Glide 2 and we’ve noticed that the weight of the rider can make quite an impact on the performance of the unicycle. We’d recommend the Glide 3 if you’re over 200 lbs.
The Glide 2 looks very similar to the Glide 3. It has similar styling, is nice and thin and has a stylish and sleek finish. It doesn’t come with the fancy lights on the side but it does come with the headlight and the tail lights so you know that riding at night will be just as easy on the Glide 2 as it is on the Glide 3.
The Glide 2 also has a system that is designed to help you stay safely on the unicycle. It uses an Intelligent Safety Tilt Back and audio warning system to prevent you from pushing the Solowheel past mechanical limitations based on available power. This will help you get used to managing the power and will help with learning to ride safely.
Overall, the Glide 2 is a great product, it fits perfectly at the price point and for that money you’re getting a fantastic electric unicycle. If you decide to get this as a beginner, you should be able to learn on this quicker than most other motorized unicycles out there. Once you can ride it comfortably you’re still left with a very capable product should see you through many years of use.

Swagtron SwagRoller
On AltRiders we’ve reviewed a lot of Swagtron products, from the Swagtron Swagger electric scooter, to the Swagboard electric skateboard. They all tend to have similar pros and cons and Swagtron have found part of the market that they have began to dominate. All Swagtron products very well priced and have a great range of features, however they are the budget option so will not always be the most reliable.
Like many of the other Swagtron products, the SwagRoller is packed full of features that you’d only normally expect to see on models several times the price. This has a built in extendable handle. It has an accompanying app that allows you to choose an LED pattern for the lights, use the motor lock feature, view riding history and more. It even has a built in bluetooth speaker so you can listen to your favorite songs whilst riding. The SwagRoller also comes with a headlight and is IP55 water and dust resistant. All SwagRollers also come with training wheels so riding one of these is easy for anyone. And one of the most interesting features the SwagRoller has, is another wheel. It has 2 14 inch wheels that make riding this self balancing unicycle about as easy as you’ll find.
This uses a 450 W motor to reach a top speed of only 9 mph. Not the best. It can last up to 12 miles and can surprisingly easily handle inclines up to 15 degrees and more.
This is definitely our pick when it comes to the cheapest electric unicycle as it’s still a great product but for a very low price. The up sides are the huge amount of features, ease of use and value for money. You’re just not going to beat it. The down sides are the build quality and reliability. We haven’t had any problems with it but other people mention some issues here and there.

Segway One S2
The Segway One S2 Unicycle is one of the easiest and trendiest forms of personal transportation available right now. While it can be a bit pricier than some of its competitors, the extra costs mean that you’re getting a more comfortable, fun & extremely well thought out product.
For the Segway One S2 speed is definitely one of the top factors that most users love about this ride. It has a top speed of 12.5 miles per hour, so you can cover quite a distance in a short time. It can also go as far as 15 miles on one charge, which is decent at this price point. It does however require a charging time of up to 4 hours.
One other feature that we really love about the Segway One S2 is the accompanying mobile app. It’s starting to feel like it’s a must for every electric form of transportation to have their own app but this one is a good example of an app done right. Its goal is to help you learn so has levels you need to accomplish. At the start the S2 limits your speed to 2.5 mph. After the activation, you are upgraded to a maximum speed limit of 4.3 mph until you complete the New Rider Tutorial. After finishing this, you are upgraded to a speed limit of 7.5 mph and will go on with this speed until you cover 0.6 miles or exactly one kilometer of riding. After you’ve covered 1 kilometer, you will have full freedom to disable the speed limiter and run as fast as 12.5 mph.
Whilst the stages are great for new riders and really does teach you how to master an electric unicycle I can imagine that it could be a bit of a chore to go through for experienced riders.
Overall, the Segway One S2 is a good product that we would recommend. It has been designed and built very well, feels solid and fun to ride, but also seems to lack any real unique selling point that would help it stand out. If you’re looking for a solid mid ranged motorized electric unicycle then the Segway One S2 is a great option.

KingSong 16S
The Kingsong 16S is a new unicycle that is really trying to compete with the likes of Inmotion/Solowheel. This is one of the fastest electric unicycles we’ve reviewed and also has some of the best stats around.
The Kingsong 16S is a 16 inch wheel that can reach a top speed of 22 mph. This is a great top speed and is the fastest electric unicycle on our list. But that’s not the best part. The max range that the KingSong 16S can reach is 60 miles on a single charge! That’s not where the stats stop being impressive though. It can carry a maximum rider weight of 330 lbs and can even climb a hill of 30 degrees! A lot of the best electric scooters can’t manage that.
The KingSong also has some nice additional features. It include a bluetooth speaker system and a set of side LEDs that can be customised by the downloadable app. A quick note on the app – as of 14th August 2018 the app is not very good at all. It is required for you to register to allow you to increase the top speed to 22 mph, but doing so is a nightmare. This doesn’t ruin the experience but is a major inconvenience and feels very amateur.
The design and styling of the KingSong also feels a little amateur. The cover feels a bit cheap and the logo graphic makes the whole thing look like it should be worth $1000 less than it is.
Despite these couple of problems we think this is an incredible machine. The performance is the best around, you’re not going to get a 60 mile range from any other electric unicycle. It also rides well and it quick and nimble to weave in and out and make sharp turns. The acceleration also feels like the best we’ve reviewed. Overall, the performance and little extras make this a brilliant buy. It’s quite expensive and you’ll have to deal with the awful app that needs fixing, but if you can put up with that you’ll get one of the most exciting and fun electric unicycle experiences available today.

Safety Gear
Learning to ride a unicycle is hard enough, learning to ride an electric unicycle is almost a guarantee that you’ll bump or scrape yourself at some point.
Safety gear is there to protect those vital points when the inevitable happens and could potentially save your life if you have an accident at 25 mph.
There isn’t unicycle specific safety gear out there so we’re recommending using skateboard safety gear. This sort of stuff is perfect for any type of motorized personal transportation and is even perfect for longboarding.
Helmets
It’s important to wear a properly fitted helmet to protect your head from slamming against the ground or walls. This is the most important piece of safety equipment and we highly recommend you use one.

Hi.
Absolutely will you not get 60 miles per charge. The closest I’ve come is around 30 miles per charge and even less in freezing temperatures.mate from Virginia
