The Shaofu electric scooter is like a hybrid of a bike and scooter. It has a similar frame style to a traditional e-bike (only smaller) but instead of any pedals it it solely powered by a 350W motor. What makes this scooter such good value for money is the sheer amount of features that the designers have managed to fit into such a small product. For example, it has a Bluetooth app that lets you adjust speed settings, amongst other option. It’s waterproof, with an IPX5 waterproof rating, it has front and rear lights, cruise control, a battery indicator and horn on the handlebars and more. The battery is capable of giving a 15 mile range and is rated at 36V so gives decent performance with the 350W motor. Fastest Electric Scooter with Seat
NANROBOT D4+
NANROBOT are a Chinese company that specialise in electrical scooters and more. They have a large range of e-scooters on the market with each one having incredible performance and packed with features. The D4+ is one of the more mid range offerings NANROBOT have and is one of the most popular. The scooter has two impressive 1000 Watt motors, one in each wheel, which helps it achieve a top speed of 40 mph. It has a 23.4Ah battery that give the D4+ a range of 70 km (44 miles). The wheels have sensitive dual disc brakes, along with 10 inch pneumatic tires and shock absorbers (which are very much needed if you are planning on going off road with this).
The scooter also comes with a few nice features, namely an LCD display and LED headlight and taillight, as well as a seat that can be purchased separately or with the D4+. This gives you a lot more versatility that many other scooters out there and will allow you to ride it either standing up or sitting down.
We’d recommend this scooter mainly as a performance scooter but it can be used for commuting or travelling if required. The top speed and max range gives you the ability to take it for very long and enjoyable trips and when you add the seat on it can make these trips a whole lot more enjoyable as it’ll reduce the strain on your legs. We highly recommend the D4+ and you can find out more about it by reading our full review.

NANROBOT RS7
The NANROBOT RS7 is like the D4+ on steroids. It made it into the first position on our list of the fastest electric scooters on the market right now and its performance is terrifyingly good. It has dual 1600 Watt motors which give it a top speed of 55mph! If you’re looking for a fast scooter with a seat then this is the one to buy. The seat is generally an optional extra but you can buy them both together just as easily as without the seat.
Not only does the RS7 have an incredible top speed, but it also has a fantastic maximum range of 55 miles. It can also climb hills of up to 65 degrees and carry a max rider weight of 390 lbs. Another place the Nanrobot really shines is its build quality and features. Its big and looks a bit brash but is heavy duty and made from high quality aluminum and steel with a fairly nice black and red finish. It has hydraulic shock absorption, wear resistant tires and even has high power LED headlights, is foldable and has a kickstand. This means, that although this is built for performance and a high top speed, it still has the practicality of some scooters that are built specifically for commuting.
So if the D4+ isn’t quite fast enough for you, and if you have the money, then the RS7 should be just what you’re looking for. It is a high performance, heavy duty e-scooter that is frankly a little bit terrifying. But this also has the additional features to make it an all round quality product that could be used for commuting or traveling around if you really wanted. Just be prepared to pay a premium for such amazing performance.

Best Electric Scooter with Seat for Adults
Ford Ojo Electric Scooter
The OjO Electric Scooter has featured many time on AltRiders, such as in our post on the best electric scooter for adults and since then has been bought by the car maker behemoth Ford. It is a striking example of what the future of electric personal transportation could potentially be like. It’s designed and built in Santa Monica and it fits perfectly between a standard electric kick scooter and a full sized motorized scooter/moped. It is fully street legal in most of the US and can generally be ridden in bike lanes without requiring a licence. We recommend checking local riding laws and regulations before buying though. We also have a post on street legal electric scooters for adults if you’d like to know more.
The OjO is masterfully built and has a range of very interesting features. For example, it has a full aluminium chassis that is completely waterproof with a headlight, tail light, horn and both front and rear disc brakes and full suspension. The motor is a 500W motor hub motor that allows the rider to reach speeds of 20 mph and the battery allows a range of roughly 25 miles on a single charge. It also has a patented onboard charger with a retractable cord and plug that can fit any 110V wall socket. On the handlebars it also features a non glare screen for all the information you need when riding and even two waterproof Bluetooth speakers and a USB port for charging your phone.
We think the OjO sets a benchmark for new electric scooters with its ingenuity, design and feature set. As you probably expect, it costs a lot more than the average e-scooter (but less than the NANROBOT RS7). However, we think this is actually very well priced as it has so many benefits over traditional mopeds. For example, you can basically fuel it for free, it’s much more environmentally friendly and you don’t need any licence to run it.

Razor Ecosmart Metro
If the Ojo is a bit on the pricey side then Razor offer a great alternative in the Ecosmart Metro. The Razor EcoSmart Metro is a unique and well priced alternative to most of the scooters mentioned before, in addition to being aimed at a slightly different market. If you’re looking for a practical scooter that can be used as transport to and from shops to as a simple commuter then this will be ideal.
It’s a much simpler design, having a bamboo deck and a simple white frame giving it a vintage look and feel. It uses a 500W extra high torque motor and a variable speed throttle control system to help it reach its top speed of 18 mph. It is said to have enough battery life for 40 minutes of continual use which would roughly be 12 miles. The maximum weight capacity is 220 lbs and it weighs 67 lbs itself. It also has a few nifty little features, such as an ultra padded seat for additional comfort and the handlebars and seat are adjustable so you can ride in the optimal position. It also has a kickstand and a detachable rear basket.
If you’re looking for a very practical and simple electric scooter that’s efficient and eco friendly then the Razor EcoSmart Metro is a great choice. The design might not be to your taste but we think it has a certain charm to it. Add this to the practical design and surprising amount of features and you have a great e-scooter at a very affordable price.

Best Electric Scooter with Seat for Kids
Razor E300s
The Razor E300s is the seated version of the E300, one of the most popular electric scooters ever. The E300s is an affordable, beginners electric scooter that feels a bit on the chunkier side when compared to other similar scooters but will still be good for older kids and teens. It weighs 52.2 lbs (23.7 kgs) with extra large 10 inch pneumatic tires and a super sized deck which makes it perfect for sitting down as both feet can fit side by side.
The E300s reaches a decent top speed of 15 mph (24 km/h), and has up to 40 minutes of riding time. This scooter uses a chain driven motor and a twist grip acceleration control with a hand operated rear brake, we find all of these work fine but aren’t optimal. Where this scooter really shines is the optional seat. Razor have provided the E300s with a removable stand and padded seat, so you can use it as a normal stand up electric scooter as well as a sit down one.
This scooter is a decent choice for people looking at a first time, basic and fairly cheap electric scooter that doesn’t have many extras that can go wrong and makes a good choice as a children’s electric scooter or a teen electric scooter. Razor Pocket Mod
If you’re looking for something for an even younger child, then Razor have another excellent kids electric scooter in the Razor Pocket Mod. The Razor Pocket Mod range of electric scooters provide rather unique and striking e-scooters aimed at children. There are many models available, with some being “girls” scooters and others being “boys” scooters.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the scooters look absolutely fantastic. They have a vintage style that’s reminiscent of a classic Vespa, except scaled down to an appropriate size. The style isn’t purely aesthetic either, there are a few small features that are taken from proper motorised scooters. For example, the seat lifts up and provides an area for storage, just like the scaled up adult version it’s based on. These scooters will hit speeds of 15 mph and the battery can last around 40 minutes of continual use. They have a chain driven electric motor that uses a twist grip acceleration control. There’s also hand operated brakes and large, 12 inch pneumatic tires. The Pocket Mod also features a neat little kick stand for storage.
Without a doubt the best thing about the Pocket Mod series of electric scooters is the way they look. They ooze charm and will really make your child feel like they are riding a classic Vespa or something similar. The different models will give you a nice range of colors and styles to choose from, there’s the classic neutral black or white models that look fantastic and then there are the colored models for a more personal feel. In addition to this the Razor Pocket Mod electric scooters are are well priced, perform well and have a good range of features that will definitely keep your little happy.

How do Electric Scooters Work?
Electric scooters are probably more simple than you expect. They are usually powered by a small electric motor that’s attached to the wheels and provides the power. This is what propels the scooter forward. These are generally expected to be hub motors. A hub motor is a motor that is placed in the hub of the wheel of the scooter and will drive a combination of the front and back wheels.
The motors are run from an on board battery that is likely to be a Lithium battery of some kind and can be charged from the mains and sometimes gains a little charge back when the scooter brakes – this is called regenerative braking.
That’s about it for the basics of how an e-scooter works. Some scooters will also come with additional features such as headlights or even USB sockets for charging your phone. These will be simple connected to the main battery and will be powered from that.
The more powerful scooters such as the NANROBOT scooters mentioned above will have more powerful, and sometimes multiple, motors in addition to high capacity batteries that are able to discharge at a very high rate to provide the required power in short amounts of time.
Final Thoughts
We hope this has helped give you a better idea of some of the best e-scooters with seats on the market. We recommend having a clear idea of what you intend to use it for and then use our above recommendation to make your final decision.
