The Playshion 39 inch drop through longboard is a perfect example of an affordable cruising/carving board. Playshion class is as a multi function board but we think it excels at the basics. We can think of many board that are better than this for freestyle or downhill but, for the price, the Playshion 39 inch drop through is one of the best longboards for cruising.
The longboard deck is made from an 8 ply hardwood maple material, which gives it a sturdy feel but also relatively flexy. The deck also has a slight concave shape that helps to hold your feet in place and makes turning easier. The board can hold riders up to 250 lbs. At 39 inches it doesn’t feel too long and helps make it feel more responsive to give you quicker and tighter turns. Perfect for commuting or just riding around town.
This has 7 inch reverse kingpin aluminum longboard trucks, with a ground clearance of 4 inches due to the drop through mounting technology. This makes it more stable and easier to ride. It also helps with braking and it easy to push because of it being lower to the ground. The SHR 78A wheels are great with this board, hard enough for firm steering yet soft enough to make a smooth ride. They are a bit small, so the grip is a little less than we’d like, but for basic cruising they work just fine.
This cruiser is approximately 7 pounds, lightweight to carry around with you during your day.
Overall, the Playshion 39 inch drop through is a great all round board that excels at cruising. It’s well made, is fun to ride and won’t empty your wallet. It’s also ready to go straight out of the box so you can get riding immediately.
